Pause button and mode change unexpectedly

Feature request for product/service

Cursor IDE

Describe the request

I have two requests, one is BUG.

  1. in new white IDE, with only agents when you sent a prompt. And while working you change mode for example from agent to ask, and want to send new prompt with new mode. Already working agent changes mode. WTF, WHY!?

  2. Promts in QUEUE, should have 4th icon with paused ON/OFF. while paused i can make them not to be sent and i can hold them and meantime write and send other prompt knowing it wont be sent before I end working on my new prompt. For now i have to cut them, then delete and paste after. Simple pause button would help me tremendously.

Operating System (if it applies)

Windows 10/11

Hey, thanks for the detailed post.

On the mode-switching one: I reproduced it on Windows and confirmed it’s a bug. Changing the mode while an agent is still generating shouldn’t flip the running agent — it should only apply to the next prompt you send. We have an internal bug report on this and I’ll let you know when it’s fixed.

I don’t have an ETA, and it might take some time to be fixed. In the meantime, the cleanest workaround is to wait for the current agent to finish before switching modes. The mode change then applies to your next prompt as expected, with no surprises.

On the queue pause toggle: nice idea. We take it into consideration.

Thanks again for taking the time to write these up.

BTW another pause button near toggle arrow for entire queue window, for fast pausing all prompts.

IF entire window is paused, new prompt, will be added already paused, so you could then rearrange order of prompts, and then send
