Increasingly I’d like to move more and more of my cursor usage to Cloud Agents, but I rely heavily on plan mode, whereas Cloud Agents feel like they are hell-bent on just issuing a PR. A lot of the work I use plan mode for is much more exploratory and interactive, where I start with a high level brain dump of a feature I want to build, and I use plan mode to go back and forth and refine until I’m satisfied. Please bring that to cloud agents!
I would love to see this feature come to cloud agents.
I have had some decent experience with starting the agent locally (in the agent window), putting it in plan mode, and choosing “Run in Cloud”. Not as integrated or seamless as I’d hope for, but it does provide a plan in the cloud environment.
Same request: I want Plan Mode as a first-class mode inside a Cursor cloud agent, not only in the local Agent Window.
The local Plan → “Run in Cloud” path (mentioned above) is a workaround. I want to start and stay in planning on the cloud agent itself — exploratory back-and-forth, then implement only after the plan is settled — instead of the agent going straight at a PR.
Adding a rationale: Plan Mode is really the only thing keeping me from merrily using cloud agents and Grok Bot. I’ve run into many performance and bug issues on my main laptop, which is why I want to use cloud agents — but without Plan Mode there, I still have to stay local.
This would be a great feature. Unfortunately I found out this was a limiting factor the hard way. I was attempting to set up an orchestration layer and have spent hours on it relying on it the Cloud Agent to pause or stop to present a plan (this way I could make sure it was using custom subagents properly), but it didn’t and just kept going, making updates, opening a PR, etc. I guess I will stop using cloud agents now. at least I learned something
regarding the plan: I did another small test and this time specifically for the agent to stop and present to me a plan and await my approval. So even through though have a “Plan” mode isn’t selectable, it appears that if you tell it to in the prompt it may be enough.
Cloud Agent Auto Pull Requests - I found this to be a setting that could be toggled in the Cloud Agent settings. I selected “never” but haven’t tried it yet. My honest feedback on this setting: I had a Github Action that runs with a pull request and it uses credits every time. Maybe consider defaulting this to “Never”
Hmm, I’m confused, because I originally made this complaint ages ago, but I do now see that I can select plan mode for cloud agents, from the IDE agents window and from the mobile app.
