Nice, Amazon won’t try and shaft people like Anysphere has done.
I see Kiro ships with quantized models.

I completely understand that with Sonnet 4 requests became 2-3 times more expansive, and that Cursor just couldn’t survive with current prices, but I guess they could just remove slow requests and stay alive. Their new plans and zero transparency completely destroyed them.
If they had a modicum of ethics they would have give warning and options before just making blanket changes. Then the devs and moderators come and try to tell you that everything is fine, mean while the building is burning. Where there is smoke there is fire. Anthropic uses Amazon infrastructure, I wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon have now made a better partnership for their IDE for more requests.
Suggestion: Allow Unused API Credits to Roll Over to the Next Month
If the Pro plan includes $20 worth of API credits each month, it would be fairer to allow unused credits to carry over to the following month. Some users might have lighter workloads in certain months and heavier ones in others, so rolling over unused credits would make the plan feel more balanced and user-friendly.
This would ensure users get the full value of what they pay for.
The new Cursor Pro plan gives you:
- Unlimited usage of Tab and models in Auto
- $20 of frontier model usage per month at API pricing
- An option to purchase more frontier model usage at cost
We were not clear that “unlimited usage” was only for Auto and not all other models, which have at least $20 of included usage. Based on median token usage, the Pro plan currently covers about 225 Sonnet 4 requests, 550 Gemini requests, or 650 GPT 4.1 requests, and the vast majority of Pro users do not run out of their included usage.
In any case, I guess we developers just win from these competitions, and bigger companies can give us more value. First of all, we are all doing business. Cursor sells us service, we sell services to our clients, and we want to reduce expenses the same as Cursor. So it’s pretty clear that people will move from Cursor in the end.
Kiro is interesting in and of itself because it is focussing on “spec driven development” rather than just being another AI VSCODE fork.
The pricing is also request based, not token based - stop me if you’ve heard that one!
I’m not sure how people usually use Cursor, but in my opinion, $20 for API base usage is nothing. For me it’s for a one day, haha!
Testing it now, really useful feature: follow.
OH MY GOD! Kiro is really cool I’ve never seen an IDE like this before
One observation about slow response Sonnet 4 in Cursor. I am observing only in Cursor this issue. Claude Code, Copilot, and now Kiro are working really fast. The sonnet works as it should. So, definitely this issue is on the Cursor side, or they are intentionally slowing down requests to the model.
In the forum search, ‘slow response’ doesn’t exist .
Well, good luck, guys. I’m done with the cursor forums. The product is dead in my eyes. I hope you vote with your wallets.
Good luck, folks! I cancelled my Cursor as well.
did these guys change the ratelimit policy again? my local rate limits aren’t refilling its been 2-3 days now.
Haha, me too. I haven’t executed claude code4 for days, and the cursor is completely useless now
If you have Github Copilot, you can use Sonnet 4.0 with VS Code in Agent mode simular to Cursor. It’s little slower and crashes sometimes, but at least it works.
I cancelled my cursor subscription. Good luck
whats the alternative, something exactly like cursor but stable,
I loved the new rate limit cursor, I got 600 usd api usage out of my 20 usd subscription, I would use 250 initial rate limit amount and then every day cursor would give me 15 sonnet and around 30 gemini pro usage limits via local limits. but now since those are gone, the auto mode is completely useless, doesn’t understand context and breaks code.
Windsurf, Kiro, Kilo Code. At this point, even Cline and Copilot is better than this shipwreck. At least they don’t lie. I changed to Windsurf and I like it a lot. Maybe change to Kiro. But now we have options, even free competitors are swarming the space. Cursor thought they would become the new Uber or Amazon and may have lost it all from being greedy. Even this thread is just going to the void… no one from Cursor read it or answer. So the only option was to cancel and try new things. What is actually good and cheaper
Kiro is really nice so far. And free/unlimited sonnet 4 for now. Backed by Amazon who invested in Anthropic and host their model on Bedrock. That might be it.
$40/month for 3000 requests once it becomes paid. Reasonable.
They just replied and put me back on the 500 requests system.
