Composer 2.5 is available on Grok Build. What if Composer models are available on other platforms as Google Cloud? I really love Composer 2.5, the cost-efficient and high-quality model. It would be very useful to use it like a LLM model for custom AI applications.
i was having a discussion about this with someone on X. The reason composer feels ‘cheap’ is probably because its subsidized. Grok deal is probably an anomaly … Composer was trained in their facilities and they are in acquisition talks right now..So they both are sizing each other up now..and being nice…
But if Composer 2.5 goes outside of the ecosystem and becomes an API call…then it may not be ‘as cheap’ as now
@saad Thank you for sharing it. I didn’t know “API for Cursor”. And surprising for me, it is allowed by Cursor.
You make a good point why Composer 2.5 is cheaper than other frontier models. I think availability on other platform like Google Cloud is more important, even though the pricing can get a bit more expensive than what Cursor offers. For instance, if we can use Composer 2.5 on Google Cloud, we don’t need to manage API keys any more. We can just manage IAMs to use Cursor. That might be safer and more governed.
I don’t think its officially allowed. so thats why I was telling the gentleman to check with Cursor first…because it doesn’t make sense to allow it for the reasons I mentioned on my tweet.
I believe cursor would want composer 2.5 to stay only exclusively for cursor subscribers. That gives them a moat. otherwise what else is there to protect? Just my 2 cents.
