Python “Go to Definition” and Hover Tooltip Not Working in Cursor

Describe the Bug

In Cursor, Python “Go to Definition” (F12, Ctrl+Click) and hover tooltips are not working. When I hover over a function, I do not see the signature or docstring, and Ctrl+Click/F12 does not take me to the definition. This issue persists even after waiting for project indexing and trying all standard troubleshooting steps.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a Python project or a new Python file.
  2. Define a function and call it in the same file.
  3. Hover over the function call — no tooltip appears.
  4. Press F12 or Ctrl+Click — nothing happens.

Expected Behavior

Hovering over a function, class, or variable should show a tooltip with its signature and docstring.
Ctrl+Click or F12 should jump to the definition.

Hi @Irayya_Malakajayya, it sounds like a python interpretor is not selected, or the language server is crashing.

Could you run this command to make sure it is set correctly for the workspace?

And could you share the logs from the “Cursor - Pyright” and “basedpyright” output consoles?

It is working now , after uninstalling python pylance extension, Then reload the window.

Initially python interpreter was selected, But still it didnt work.

Now its fine.

But actually in vs code python pylance is must needed right.
