Quick Edit Menu Cut Off by Top Bar When Selecting Line 1 of a File

Describe the Bug

When we open a file (IE any python/r file, and highlight lines at line [1], the quick edit menu dissapears/is cut off by the topbar.

Steps to Reproduce

Open any file with some code written, IE a .R file. Highlight the top 2 or 3 lines if there are present.

Expected Behavior

UI is not cut off

Hey, thanks for the detailed report and screenshot, that makes the issue clear. When you select the first lines, the selection toolbar Add to Chat / Quick Edit renders above the selection and hits the top bar, so it gets clipped. I’ve shared this with the team.

For now, here are a couple of workarounds:

  • The shortcuts still work even if the toolbar is clipped. Use Cmd+K for Quick Edit and Cmd+L for Add to Chat.
  • If the toolbar is in the way, you can disable it: Cursor Settings > Agents > Inline Editing & Terminal > Toolbar on Selection.

I can’t share an ETA yet, but I’ll reply in the thread when there’s an update.
