There’s a request about this from April, but why? seems to easy to implement
Cursor should absolutely have a rename file tool. Currently, the AI goes around this limitation by regenerating an entirely new file with the same file contents, and then uses the ‘delete file’ tool. It feels like an inefficient and wasteful method.
(Can be done through the agent now)
