I have a use case of leveraging an IDE that is remotely deployed and offers a web interface for access thus allowing me to develop using remotely available compute. Previously I’ve used Code-Server vs Code to accomplish this. This is especially necessary given the amount of RAM that Cursor can use.
I’m not aware of any way to do this with Cursor other than installing Cursor inside a Virtual Machine with a full Desktop Environment and using software and remote access protocols like VNC to remotely connect in order to leverage resources such as increased available RAM.
I would request that Cursor considers a fork similar to Code-Server but for Cursor since it too is VS Code based.
Cursor could also leverage that same capability to offer revenue streams for remote hosting and management of remote cursor instances (e.g., I use Code-Server on both local / remote servers and cloud AWS/Azure Infrastructure). Much the same way GitHub has integrated that technology into their Workspaces product with VSCode.
