I’m trying to install the ROS extension for VS Code, but it doesn’t show up in the Extensions Marketplace, and I can’t import it manually either.
I’ve noticed that Anysphere has created custom versions of some Microsoft extensions like Remote - SSH and WSL. Would it be possible for Anysphere to also publish a working version of the ROS extension?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @anilzeybek, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Noted, we’ll work on getting this extension available in Cursor.

Hi @anilzeybek,
Could you download the ROS extensions directly from GitHub?
(The MS ROS extension is deprecated)
After downloading and insetalling the .VSIX, you’ll need to manually modify the dependencies, as described here.
We have reached out to the maintainer, Ranch Hand Robotics, to ask them to publish directly in OpenVSX (which is the upstream for the Cursor marketplace)

Hi @ravirahman,
Unfortunately that extension requires VS Code version 1.101 or above so I can’t install that on Cursor.
Hi @anilzeybek, thanks for mentioning this. We’ve reached out to the developer to see if they can make their extension compatible with Cursor.

I’m the developer for the Robot Developer Extensions (and previously the ms-iot.vscode-ros extension). I wanted to let you know that the Robot Developer Extensions for ROS 1, ROS 2 and URDF are now available from the open-vsx marketplace and fully supported in Cursor.
RDE for ROS 1
RDE for ROS 2
RDE for URDF/Xacro/OpenScad (I can’t paste the link due to forum restrictions)
I’m monitoring for issues, adding features and actively working through the bug backlog.
