I am trying to install the popular Ruff python formatting extension into Cursor (extension id charliermarsh.ruff).
When doing so I get the following error: “Can’t install ‘ms-python.python’ extension because it is not compatible with the current version of Cursor (version 0.41.3, VSCode version 1.91.1)”.
This is strange because I do have the “Cursor Python” extension installed in Cursor, which I believe provides the ‘ms-python.python’ extension ID. Also, on another machine I was able to install Ruff successfully previously, so I think something likely changed to break this compatibility. Any idea how to fix? I love Cursor but really need Ruff support!
