"Running terminal command..." hanging up

Describe the Bug

Is this hitting everyone else like a baseball bat? I’ve had to switch to Kilo, yuck, to get work done. My instinct says it’s because I am running on Windows 11 and Powershell seems less accurate than bash. When this happens I can usually just hit Enter a few times in the inline terminal and it will proceed just fine. Other times, it will just stick there until I stop it. I do notice it more when while the agent is in SSH. Otherwise, it does seem random.

Steps to Reproduce

I cannot reproduce this at will.

Expected Behavior

If Cursor cannot execute a command it should end gracefully with information as to why it hung so I can avoid this behavior. This is the MVP experience IMO.

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)

1.2.4
1.99.3
Commit: a8e95743c5268be73767c46944a71f4465d05c90

Additional Information

I’m not an expert developer, so any advice as to what I am doing wrong would be great.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Had the same problem with 1.2.4 and updated version 1.3.0

We’re looking into this - thank you!

@andrewh Thanks for the “soon™” but can we have some more concrete feedback on the process please?
It’s been a problem for months now and has been reported repeatedly.
It make dev on windows all but unusable.

Not sure yet. I am actively looking into it right now - intention is to get a fix out today.

Actually, I noticed you are on 1.2.4. 1.3.1 is rolling out imminently. We improved the terminal tool significantly. The only remaining bug I am tracking on it is multi-hour terminal commands in SSH sometimes terminate. Let me post here when we rollout.
