The usage stats are basically your ‘health bar’.

Hi! The status bar can be customised by default. You can right click on any element in there to hide it and you can download (and even create) your own extensions that can add Infomation to the status bar.
If you are talking about a count of used queries, I like the idea! Seeing that upfront would help to know your usage without checking the dashboard!
