Severe Issues After Latest Update: Agents Not Loading, Frequent Crashes

Correction to my previous message.

I was too optimistic earlier. Reinstalling version 2.3.20 did not resolve the problem. The crashes are still occurring.

I will roll back to earlier versions and continue testing tomorrow to see if there is any improvement.

I will provide another update once I have more information.

Dear Cursor Team,

I need to be very direct.

You currently have serious problems with your software.

Version 2.3.20 crashes continuously and is practically unusable. I therefore rolled back to version 2.2.44, but there I am again facing constant and inexplicable connection interruptions.

My internet connection is 100% stable. There are no dropouts on my side. Nevertheless, Cursor repeatedly reports connection failures, very often during larger prompts or longer-running requests. This makes productive work impossible.

So right now the situation is the following:

  • Newer versions introduce hard application crashes

  • Older versions avoid crashes but suffer from frequent false connection interruptions

  • Either way, work is constantly interrupted

This is a major problem.

I am currently seriously reconsidering whether to continue using Cursor at all. I still like the product conceptually, but at this point it seems increasingly likely that building my own development environment without Cursor would be cheaper, more stable, and more reliable.

I have already sent about 20 emails to [email protected], including many Request IDs documenting connection failures. There was no effective resolution from support. After that, updates were released which reduced connection errors but instead introduced frequent crashes.

Please understand this clearly:
At the very beginning, Cursor worked significantly better. Something has changed recently, and unfortunately it has gone downhill. I do not know what was done differently before, but whatever it was, it was more stable than the current state.

I am asking you to take these issues seriously and to actively work on the stability and reliability of the application. Right now, the experience does not match what I would expect from a professional, paid tool.

I would appreciate a concrete response on how you plan to address these regressions.

Regards
Daniel

You are not alone, the constant crashing is stopping me from getting any work done today. I thought I had solved it by opening a new window and re-navigating to the proper folder via ssh but I got only one chat in before it all stopped working again. Chat, the terminal, the file menu and even the close button just refused to work and I had to kill Cursor from the task manager. This is ridiculous.

The last update broke Cursor and made it just a pure loss of time and energy. It worked just fine before, it’s just a pure sabotage, I can’t get how a software compagny specialized into code can force an update destructing their own business. It’s just oom crash one after another since the last update. If I find anything making the job I quit Cursor

I’d be interested to know which exact version you’re currently using, so I can make sure not to install it.

For reference: I’m currently on version 2.3.35, and for me it’s finally working reasonably well again. So far I’m not seeing crashes and I haven’t had any connection dropouts either, which is honestly a relief after the last weeks.

It might be useful to compare versions to narrow down where things started breaking.

I just want to say thanks! You saved me so many hours of stupid debugging even not my software. Their ridiculous responses - do this, do that. It’s like I have time only for them.

Somebody in Cursor must be ashamed of the quality they deliver recently. It seems like they decided to go full on with vibe coding doing recent updates

Also, look at OpenCode. It’s not there yet, but helped me quite a lot while Cursor was broken.
