Shell tool command edits are not respected

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

When an agent attempts to request approval for a shell command, we are able to edit the command, however our edits are not respected during the run.

Steps to Reproduce

Ask for the agent to run any shell command that’s not part of the allowlist so you get the approval prompt. Then edit the command and approve. You’ll see the original command run rather than your edited one.

Expected Behavior

The expected behavior is that once we edit the command and then press approve, the edited command is run rather than the original

Operating System

Windows 10/11

Hey, thanks for the report. This is a known issue, and the team is aware.

Duplicate: Edits to terminal commands ignored

There’s no workaround right now. You either need to approve the original command, or cancel and ask the agent to explicitly suggest the command you want.

Your report helps with prioritization. Updates will be posted in the thread above.

Same issue here, very annoying. Please fix or disable editing in the meantime.

Hey @Kirill_Chernakov, thanks for confirming this is still happening. The team is aware of this issue. In the meantime, the workaround is to reject the command and ask the agent to suggest the corrected command instead of editing it in the approval prompt.
