The “Taking longer than expected” message usually means the request timed out before it could complete. A few things to try:
Run a Network Diagnostic — go to Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics and share the results here (use the “Copy diagnostics” button). This will help us rule out any connectivity issues on your end.
Try shorter, more focused prompts — long agent sessions are more likely to hit timeouts
Try Auto mode — it may perform better depending on current load
If it’s still happening after trying those, reply with a couple of fresh request IDs from the failing attempts so we can look into the specific requests.
I can stop the chat and then prompt it to continue. Then it will work for a while but then be stuck again. It seems cursor does not have timeout and retry mechanism
