The agent execution provider did not respond in time. This may indicate the extension host is not running or is unresponsive.

My colleague and I have both found that Cursor is not working properly today. We are paid users. Is access restricted for users in the Chinese mainland?

Cursor isn’t blocked for users from mainland China, but some specific models (like Claude from Anthropic) may be unavailable in certain regions due to provider restrictions. In that case, you can pick a different model or use Auto, which will automatically choose an available one.

But your error, The agent execution provider did not respond in time, usually points to an extension host issue, not a regional restriction. To dig in, I’ll need a bit more info:

  1. What OS are you on (Windows/macOS/Linux)?
  2. Your Cursor version (Help > About)?
