For example, when I start a conversation and ask some code-related questions, Cursor will attempt to respond. However, Cursor gets stuck and stops proceeding when it displays “planning next moves”. After waiting for 3 to 5 minutes, Cursor will report an error stating a VPN or network connection failure. I ran the “run diagnostic” tool, and my network is perfectly normal with all checks marked as passed. I am using Cursor in China.
Steps to Reproduce
Having a normal conversation with Cursor
Operating System
Windows 10/11
Current Cursor Version (Menu → About Cursor → Copy)
same issue ', the online agent helper directed me to clear thr curser cash !!! i did it and lost some definitions and more . why dont them issue a problem notice wich any orgenized company dose
I think we should give the Cursor team some time. In my opinion, they are good at innovating (or rather, good at “disrupting” the old order ), and they are also skilled at fixing problems. There is an ancient Chinese saying: “Without breaking the old, there can be no establishment of the new.” I believe this saying may be applicable to the Cursor team.
@tuzki has posted the right steps and I would like to ask you all to report the same here.
Please check Settings > Network > Run Diagnostic and report any errors shown there.
Full outages are rare and in such cases we do post a notice on top of the Forum.
In many other cases I have seen following causes which may help:
Internet provider interference with the SSL certificate or with HTTP2 protocol: for this switching to HTTP1.1 may fix the issue, though HTTP2 is preferred.
Computer or network admin limitations that also may require HTTP1.1 or allowing Cursors SSL certificates
Temporary issue that a computer restart or WIFI/router restart may resolve.
Most important is to see first what our diagnostics report on your device.
Same issue on two separate Cursor installs, one on Mac, one on Windows. Both happened directly after updating from Version: 2.0.43 to 2.0.54 (I specifically tested and confirmed the agent was still replying prior to taking the update)
UPDATE: The Mac took a while but finally worked. Windows still hanging even in new chat session
update: agent ai chat works when i work in a local project, but when im connected via ssh, he simply dont want to answer my questions and work for me… and now when i run the network diagnostic, it passes everything…. i also tried to change it to http/1.1
