There needs to be an easy way to roll back to the previous version when an update breaks things

Just updated to v0.45.17, and it completely broke Python for me. If I could, I would click a “revert update” button without hesitation, because even creating a fresh venv from an external terminal and then selecting that interpreter within Cursor does not fix it. The Cursor website also does not list downloads for specific versions, so there is currently no way I can get an AppImage of a previous version without relying on thirdparty websites and random links of dubious origin and validity.

I have reported the specific issues that have broken Cursor for me with screenshots as urgent bugs, but I still need a resolution to this that does not take an indefinite amount of time, and I imagine that others who have experienced similar issues in the past and will experience it in the future would also appreciate a way to rollback a broken update as easily as it was installed. I see a number of other discussions with no real resolution of this fundamental problem with the way that Cursor updates work.

You can find all current and previous download links in this unofficial Github repo: GitHub - oslook/cursor-ai-downloads: All Cursor AI's official download links for both the latest and older versions, making it easy for you to update, downgrade, and choose any version. 🚀

As I said in another post, I think Cursor should urgently review the way they send releases. I’ve been using Cursor for several months and it’s happened too many times, and the fact that there are automatic updates or rollbacks is something that shouldn’t exist.

In that regard, I’ve never seen anything like that in any of the alternatives, well, I don’t think in software in general either :face_with_head_bandage:

Hopefully, after this failed release, this will be reviewed and fixed permanently.
