This option is also unsuitable.
hi, we want to know why or what happen today, juse me, i had used curosr in one month by claude4 and all is perfect, but only today this regions limited problems arises?
Yes thats understandable. For now I do not have official information and what I see is the Region page that offers a refund for those affected.
I want to know how much time this problem will be repaired.
it’s time to switch VSCode+cline
Use GitHub Copilot Chat, deeply integrated with IDEs, uses OpenAI Codex or GPT-4 Turbo via GitHub/Microsoft partnership. Not a wrapper, it’s a first-party integration.
I can’t understand why Cursor chooses to follow the model provider’s regional restrictions.
Cursor’s servers consume the model API, generate content, and then provide it to users. Users do not directly use the model provider’s API, and I haven’t seen other AI tools impose similar regional restrictions.
When will it be restored? I am a paid user.
It works well this morning, but suddenly tell me I can not use the models such as claude-4-sonnet, genimi-2.5-pro, and o3, I do not know what happened and how to solve the problem?
the same
same issue, came out this afternoon
China access was cut off due to U.S. export controls, IP protection and cybersecurity concerns, plus the challenge of complying with China’s data & censorship laws.
Anthropic just landed up to $200 million in Pentagon funding, alongside OpenAI, Google, and xAI, to help build “agentic AI” systems for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Hey all, just want to clarify what’s going on here!
Cursor’s model routing respects the availability regions set by the underlying model providers. This means if you are in a region not supported by a specific model, you may see the error in this threads title.
You can learn more on this here:
If you are affected by this change, you should have the option to self-serve a refund for your current billing month in cursor.com or you can reach out via [email protected] to request one too.
But according to the official guidelines, there is no refund button available.
I believe this option is shown to affected users who have received the notification in the app. (But I’ve asked Cursor Team to review).
In case its not available as per docs above, note that refund and billing is handled by Cursor support via [email protected] and not in the Forum.
Cursor’s cancellation of token consumption in China is …
[Edit - MOD - T1000: please follow Forum Rules and stay civil]
Yes, that’s why the model API provider restricts access from China. But Cursor is not the model API provider.
Cursor has no reason to do this; at least, other AI tools aren’t doing it.
@stimw this is inaccurate and misleading statement. While I can not speak for Cursor I know that users and companies of AI providers API are required to follow the API provider terms.
How smart! It turns out that this is to crack down on a large number of illegal trial accounts in China
