Too much white space in agent chat

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Hello,

There’s a large empty space in the agent window at the bottom of the chat. It is big enough to make me believe it wasn’t on purpose.

Only a week ago it was smaller.

Steps to Reproduce

Open Cursor? That’s it.

Expected Behavior

Much less space when the chat is fully scrolled.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Hey, thanks for the report and the screenshot. I can see the highlighted empty area at the bottom of the Agent chat panel, between the actions block (“1d ago” and the icons) and the follow-up input field.

That shouldn’t happen in chats where the agent didn’t modify files, and it’s not something in your setup. The symptom and timing (“a week ago it was smaller”) match a change from a recent release. I’ve passed this to the team and we’re tracking it.

I can’t share an exact timeline yet, but I’ll reply here when there’s an update.

I, too, was wondering what was going on here. The Agent Chat scrolls and stays in the green area while nothing ever uses the red area. When it’s done responding, I scroll up to see the results would think it would use all available screen space

Hey, thanks for the report. I can see the screenshot. The agent replies in the top green area, and the bottom red block stays empty and isn’t used, even if you scroll up after the reply.

This is the same symptom the thread author mentioned, and we’re already tracking it. It shows up in chats where the agent didn’t modify any files. The space at the bottom is reserved for a summary, but in these chats it doesn’t render anything, so it ends up blank. It’s not something in your setup.

I can’t share an exact timeline yet, but I’ll post an update in the thread when I have one.

@deanrie I get a big blank area even if files are modified as you can see below. On my Mac I basically always have to scroll up to see any output.
