Unable to connect to remote MCP server

I am trying to connect to remote MCP server and am facing issue since last few days.
Looking at the logs, I get a 500 error when cursor tries to hit the /register endpoint

I am not facing this issue when trying to connect to Claude Code or inspector tools like MCP Jam

Does this stop you from using Cursor?

  • Yes - Cursor is unusable
  • Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor
  • No - Cursor works, but with this issue

Steps to Reproduce
Add a remote MCP to mcp.json - save - go to Cursor Settings - MCP Tab - click connect
Ideally it show redirect/ pop up a dialog bix to redirect to the Authentication flow, but recently it doesn’t do that at all. Looking at the logs I get a 500 error when cursor tries to hit the /register endpoint
