This is something I love in JetBrains IDEs and what makes me suffer a lot in Cursor. As you can see from the issue linked above, many other people want this too.
“Open Editors” pane is not really useful.
Generally, it would be great if it worked the same way JetBrains implemented it: a separate pane between the project tree and the editor with the ability to pin tabs to the top.
