What's the most optimal way to use Plan Mode?

Hey guys, I’ve been researching optimal ways to do Research → Plan and would like to hear your thoughts.

Do you usually do the research in the same context window of the plan? Let’s say I’ve done some prompts and my context window is 90% full. Is it safe to create and execute the plan in that context window? Or is it better to create and save the plan and execute in a new, fresh context?

I’m asking this because there’s no clarity on whether Plan Mode smartly handles context, like starting a new context just for the execution, which I think doesn’t happen. I assume it’s just a checklist.

If that’s the case it’s better to run plan in a new context window? What’s your experience?

you can do /summarize and then ask for a plan, I assume this is the best way, I usually take the plan when context is at max and in new chat ask to verify it has not missed anything
