Why Claude 3.5 still premium model

If access to Claude 3.7 has been restricted, we kindly ask that you provide paying customers with a high-quality model that operates efficiently like Claude 3.5, without slow mode even if we already used our 500 / monthly queries.

but claude 3.5 sonnet is still not cheap

Hey, well, because the 3.5 model costs the same as the 3.7 model, if Anthropic lowers the prices for it, I think we can lower the prices in Cursor too.

It would be preferrable if Anthropic doesnt brick all customers access. 3.5 and 3.7 are atrociusly bad at the moment. This is not the way to do business.

Well maybe I’m just too eager as a code to fix the bugs  but yea this is an error, I understand that it’s not your fault, but taking away the access from 3.7 from people who still pay you, I think that was a pretty bad move on your part. Maybe you guys can figure something else out.

And now let’s get back to the good parts, really good job with the updates … any ai model I’ve used seems to be more logical now

Cursor is famous. It’s a blessing and curse.

There are downsides too when you are too famous. Not able to handle the traffic is a common issue in tech. That was the case with 3.7. The day it launched, Cursor was exceeding the amount of api requests allocated from anthropic, so they had to do this. This is temporary though, I believe couple more days then we will see it again.

While that is ‘logical’ it makes no sense business wise.

If a business relies on a 3rd party API, updates and new models that are independent of established models should not be impacted.

they may need to add a per model rate limit specially if they anticipate new models to be very sought after.

Many are fine waiting and continuing to use 3.5 IF it would be not affected as well.
