Won't renew my subscription - Genuine Feedback

This is not a post to bash the product, but genuine user feedback.
Cursor is a great tool that has dramatically increased my productivity.

However, as an indie solo developer, the new pricing is detrimental.
I only use ChatGPT 4.1, ChatGPT 5 Medium, and o3.
I don’t use background agents, so all my requests are standard 1x requests.

With the new $20 pricing plan, I now get about 40–50% fewer requests per month.
I regret the removal of the 500-requests plan, which fit my usage perfectly.
I never used slow requests and never intended to.

Because of this, I will switch to a competitor offering a $15 plan with the 500-requests model.
For my use case, it’s simply better.

I might not like the competitor’s product and may come back to Cursor.
I have no allegiance to any product or company.
But please know that your new pricing plan has pushed one customer away.

I think other companies will follow suit. Most of these companies are using unsustainable pricing models as a form of marketing to gain an initial user base. Who are you switching to out of curiosity?

I had Perplexity Pro and Cursor Pro which was about $45 a month combined.

I dropped them both and got a Claude Max 100 account which is $100.

and now I can use Sonnet all day long for coding and Claude Chat for general questions.

So you didn’t really need the Cursor IDE features (tab autocomplete, restore checkpoints between requests, inline requests, line by line changes to accept, ability to switch to cheaper or specialized models? Or are you able to get these features with your Claude Code setup?

well, I still have them. It’s weird because a couple of weeks ago I said tabs were worth $20 a month. But now I just write good specifications instead and don’t need to type code.

Maybe the landscape will shift again. It’s fast moving

Yea, if you don’t need to type code, then there is no need for cursor. Cursor is not mean for prompt only workflows. A lot of the complaints here are not fair because people are comparing apples and oranges here. They want Cursor to be what Claude Code is, meanwhile many want Cursor to stay being what Claude Code isn’t.
