I was using Cursor with the Remote Control feature. I initially worked on the project from my smartphone, then switched back to my local Mac to handle more demanding parts of the code.
When I requested a heavy task in one of the chats, I received a “worker disconnected” error.
The issue is that this error also appeared in all the other remote control chats within the same workspace, even though they were not processing heavy tasks. I am now completely stuck and cannot restart the job.
Troubleshooting steps already taken:
Disabled the Remote Control feature.
Tried selecting only “Mac” (instead of “Mac and Remote”) at the bottom of the dialog box.
Neither of these actions resolved the issue. Does anyone have a fix or workaround for this?
Hi @MIGUEL_Romain Thank you for the post, and sorry for the disruption. What you’re seeing isn’t caused by anything you misconfigured.
Here’s what’s going on. When you use Remote Control, every Remote Control chat for a given project reaches your Mac through a single connection tied to that machine and that workspace folder. Your Mac’s connection ended at around 22:50 your time, and the chats that were mid task stayed pinned to it. That’s why the error surfaced in all of them at once rather than only in the heavy one.
The important part for getting unstuck: with Remote Control turned off, those chats have nothing to reconnect to, so leaving it off will keep them in the errored state. Selecting “Mac” instead of “Mac (Remote Control)” won’t revive a run that already errored either, since that chat stays attached to the Remote Control session it started on.
To recover:
Turn Remote Control back on for that Mac.
Open the same project folder those chats were running in. The connection identity is tied to the workspace, so reopening the same folder restores the exact target your chats are waiting on.
Leave that window open and keep the Mac awake until the machine shows as available in the runtime picker at the bottom of the chat.
Reopen one of the errored chats and send a short follow up, such as “continue”. The “Worker Disconnected” state is retryable once the machine is back.
If one particular chat still won’t pick up, start a fresh chat on that Mac and continue the work there.
Your edits are safe. The changed files are ordinary working tree changes on your Mac, so all three should still be there in Source Control (or git status) exactly as they were.

This has nothing to do with connection to local mac… Im having the same issue… 3 different workspaces disconnected workers… i tried moving them back to local and it didn’t work. Still have 2 sessions offline. One is back online , not sure why…
Same issue here, I am using Cusror on Windows 11. Remote connection was working between my local machine and IOS device then suddenly shows worker disconnected, Tried reconnecting, starting new session but no luck. Also ensure app on PC as well as phone is upto date but all in vain. Seems an issue with remote agent
