Describe the Bug

Open a chat window, type “hello”, select agent mode and any anthropic model and hit enter. You are greeted with “Your message is too long. Please try again with a shorter message and fewer/smaller attached items.” error. Please see screenshot. The model works fine in “Ask” mode.

The problem occurs only with Anthropic models ( claude 4, 3.7 & 3.5). The other models seems working fine. (gpt-4.1)

Steps to Reproduce

As mentioned in the description. But I think this occurs randomly from last 2 days. I suspecting this is due to some level of throttling.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Sometimes - I can sometimes use Cursor

Hey, this error can occur in several cases: if you have too many MCP servers, or if you have a very large file open in the editor. If either of these matches your case, try disabling some servers or closing the file.
