any clue about what is this for, and where is the schema ? would it be nice to be a list of servers that you can share per project.

there are several better&worse registries for MCP tools out there. depends on preferences and the actual restriction on runtimes they rely on (node, uv, containers,…)

Here is a good example of an mcp.json file.
