14 days trial lasted 3 hours

Describe the Bug

Auto mode; I assume it went with GPT-5.
Not funny.

Steps to Reproduce

Use auto mode for complex task (actually not THAT complex). But at least failed here, failed in CoPilot.

Expected Behavior

Well, 14 day trials should last 14 days I think.
But I am ■■■■ at math.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

You have to take all estimates for how long you should “be good” and divide by ten. They seem to count passive accounts, people just testing it out with a “Hello” and similar when they give you the estimates. If they say you should be good for 100 days on “average”, assume it’s about 10. I’m not saying that you always will get that amount, but at least you won’t be as disappointed when you only get 5-9 days instead.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Hope it works out and that you get a nice answer from staff as well!

Thanks. It was a ridiculous experiment. But anyway, I do not think I will be Cursor subscriber.
I literally sign out and delete all company accounts I feel misleading customers or try to sell me BS.

Working on it. Also others.

Its cursor. What more can you expect? They ban people who criticize them on reddit lol :joy:

Switched to cc and life has never been easier.

What is CC?

BTW it is good to see how actively Cursor team is being participant in this problem solving. LOL.

Probably another startup disappears after the hype.

I thought maybe codeium.

I just wanted to try Opus out on release and managed to use up my Pro subscription in one single Prompt.

Three hours for a trial is quite a lot.

I am sure the ‘built-in-fans’ will explain for you that Cursor is wonderful and you just used it in a wrong way.

Nope I was a pretty long term user of Cursor and they lost me as a customer.

If I were built-in-fans, I wouldn’t label it as “wrong way.”
I’d describe it as a lack of prior checking Opus is very, very expensive, and that’s pretty predictable. I once tried using Opus and O3 together for one night before the discount, and just a few hours of building some product cost me $150\200.

I tried reading what you wrote several times and can’t understand.
What is your complaint?
Is it about AUTO mode or GPT-5?
Is AUTO mode working for you or not?
Did it fail as a tool, or as a model that wrote bad code?

It was not directly addressed for you, but you could take it an overall attitude truth. It happens with all apps or products; people are emotionally attach themselves to ‘things’, profucts (both software or hardware). I am sure you met at least one gu or girl who called his/her car by a name like if it was a person.

I downloaded a 14 day trial, it stopped after 3 hours. I used auto as many on the forum wrote that was the best way to go: let cursor decide. But to be honest I cannot recall if the install by default came with gpt5 as agent and I switched later to auto. To be honest does not really matter. I cannot stand GPT5.

First of all, I can say quite clearly AUTO is not GPT-5!
If you don’t like GPT-5, that’s a matter of taste every developer prefers different models. Are you a hobbyist developer? I’ve seen that most hobbyists enjoy Anthropic’s models more, as they seem to understand them better.
I don’t get what the point is with Cursor here.
No one is forcing you to use GPT-5.

You’re certainly right that’s why I keep trying out new products and testing them. I try every product, and when you find the one you think works well, I’d be happy if you let me know. I’m looking for it too.
