Firstly, paying $5 a month for a password manager is brutal. I natively use my iPhone and save my password through iCloud since most account creation is on mobile.
Secondly, the 1password setup is miserable. I am 30 minutes in and still haven’t figured our how to create a service account key.
Hey @Emanuelle, you can skip 1Password. Grok Bot doesn’t need it to sign in to sites, and it’s the only password manager Grok Bot connects to today.
When a Bot reaches a login, it hands you the computer. Open the computer, take over, type the password yourself (you can look it up in the Passwords app on your iPhone), and hand control back. The Bot doesn’t see the password, and the session stays signed in for later tasks, so you’ll only need to do this again if a site signs you out. You can also take over from the Grok Bot iPhone app.
The service account step is only needed if you want the Bot to fill saved logins without you. Unless you run Grok Bot on a Mac with the 1Password app, which sets it up for you, that means creating a service account in 1Password and pasting its token, which is the step you’ve been stuck on. Since that also means paying for 1Password, I’d skip it and use the takeover above. Let me know any follow-up questions!
Hey @Emanuelle, sorry for the slow follow-up here.
Understood that taking over the computer doesn’t work for a fully automated flow. Right now, 1Password is still the only way for Grok Bot to fill saved logins on its own. There isn’t a built-in or iCloud Keychain option yet, and I’ve passed your request along to the team.
On the rate-limit message: that limit comes from 1Password, which caps how many requests service accounts can make across your whole 1Password account. Since the limit applies to the account rather than the token, creating a new token won’t get around it, and it can take longer than “a few minutes” to clear. This is an issue we’re tracking.
If you try connecting again and still see the same message, let me know, and I’ll take a closer look.
