2.1.39 crashes, downgrading to 2.0.77 doesn't solve it

Where does the bug appear (feature/product)?

Cursor IDE

Describe the Bug

Cursor crashes; the window suddenly closes. It slows down for 1-2 seconds (e.g. the mouse cursor doesn’t move normally) and then comes the crash. Downgrading to 2.0 doesn’t fix the issue.

Steps to Reproduce

Load a ~5M lines of code PHP project. Open a few files (3-4). Use Ctrl + click on some function to open its definition that is in another file (this might be a feature from some PHP extension, not sure). Double-click the file name on the tab that opened, to change the name from italics text to normal, which is intended to prevent other files from opening on the same tab overriding the current one. Alternatively, split the files into a left and right pane.

Within a few seconds the app crashes. There might be other ways to reproduce the problem. Right now the IDE actually just crashed within a few seconds of opening, while I was typing here and didn’t do anything there.

Expected Behavior

Not to crash.

Does this stop you from using Cursor

Yes - Cursor is unusable

Hey, thanks for the report. The persistence of the issue after downgrading suggests a data or extension problem rather than a recent code change.

Could you please provide:

  • Cursor logs: Help > Open Logs Folder (attach main.log)
  • Extension status: Run cursor --disable-extensions from the command line and check if crashes occur with this large project
  • System details: Full Linux distro name and version
  • Reproduction attempt: Did the crash happen again while you were typing just now, or only when interacting with PHP files?

This information will help us determine if it’s an extension, indexing, or core issue.

Thank you.

With extensions off the problem does not happen. Therefore, should we just close this issue?

FWIW, the culprit extension is devsense.profiler-php-vscode. Gonna poke them directly.

Thanks for sharing, this is very helpful.

I opted not to gather the full information in my first message but I can still give it if it helps.
