4.7 issue where AI gets stuck in infinite processing loop

I updated to 4.7 a few days ago and have had the issue where the AI gets stuck in an infinite loop processing the same request or doing the same action infinitely. This has happened 7 times now in 3 days.

it never happened prior to this update.
Very strange.

I think I found the problem, after updating to 4.7 by default the agent is set “Auto” rather than what i had it set to in earlier version. This would explain the agents erratic behavior and sudden episodes of memory losses - since its most likely switching agents (via Auto) and not informing that the agent has changed.

This usually happens to me as well in the latest version.

This is what I do:

  • Restart
  • Change models to 4o-mini > Chat
  • Generate code and resync index
  • Restore to checkpoint
  • Get back to Agent mode using Auto as you’ve stated
