This is so frustrating. I’ve been having problems ever since updating to 45.8 (and I am not able to see 45.9 yet- all Download links still point to 45.8 for me).
Repeatedly, basic Cursor functionality is failing. Eventually it crashes and afterwards can no longer be run in either Powershell or from the Start menu. I have to reboot to be able to run it.
Above is a typical dialog after getting frustrated that it is unable to inject edits into a file, even though it thinks it is.
About the time I was coming around to really being productive with it, this has been a huge step backwards and is erasing productivity gains.
I’ve seen a few posts from those who have managed to find 45.9 (where can I find it as well?) and at least some using that say it is freezing up on them. I’m kind of debating if I should fall back to 44.11?
Hey, have you got an example of where Cursor is misbehaving?
LLMs are heavy of affirmation bias, and will tell you that you are right frequently, so asking it if its malfunctioning will usually cause it to first agree that it is, and then continue to do so for the remainder of the session.
I’d recommend frequently starting new Composer session as you work to keep the context and chat on topic for what you are working on - although there is a temptation to work in one huge conversation, this can cause the LLMs to perform poorly!
Yeah, I know they have confirmation bias so have to be careful. But this was only after 3-4 attempts at getting it to actually make its changes to the file from Composer and it saying it did, and it had not, and clicking the Apple or Reapply icon in the changes box also had no effect. Usually when it gets to this state, it totally crashes a few minutes later. As we speak, it just crashed on me- all windows disappearing, but at least it did not remove itself form the Path this time- just an odd crash not related to the above and was able to relaunch and continue quickly.
It’s been a frustrating few weeks, but since I found that 45.9 had actually installed itself yesterday, it has been more stable for me (until said crash a couple of minutes ago).
Regarding the above- if this by chance happens again, I will post screenshots of the lack of changes, if I am able to capture that. The above was from an exasperated exchange after total failure and many attempts.
Sounds like you’re hitting some rough edges. I’d recommend updating to 0.45.11 which has some major performance improvements that should help with the crashes and file changes not applying. Let me know if you’re still seeing issues after updating
