I want to be able to search in chat with ctrl + f.
same here ![]()
Yes please.
Seriously, I need this every day
Hey, how would you prefer to see this feature? Like a search within the current chat — similar to finding a keyword on a web page — or a keyword search across all chats? I’m just trying to figure out the best way to implement it.
Easy - export the chat and do cmd+f. Done.
Yes a search within the current chat with CTRL/CMD F. That includes prompt, responses and code.
Sometimes there is a specific part of chat to find and read again or copy parts from.
Additionally the global chat search could be extended to allow search in content not just title (with appropriate UI to activate this in search box)
Yes please!
This feature is now available in version 1.2.
A search that you could set where to search would be ideal.
- This Chat
- All Chats
- Selected Chats
etc
What type of “search in chats” are we talking about? I had in mind something like what chatGPT does: A search that searches for the input text in all chats so that it’s easy to find a previous chat we had (cf screenshot below).
I don’t see that feature in Cursor 1.4.3 ![]()
I’m really missing the ability to search across all chat conversations - not just within one or by title. Could you please share an update on where things stand with implementing a global full-chat-content search? It would be incredibly helpful for navigating and reviewing past discussions efficiently.
Hi @KrisKomjati the search as you mentioned works within titles at this time.
While I do not have updates on the search front to share for now, we are looking into Chat UI improvements and personally I agree a search would help with past conversations.
What kinds of info are you looking for when you check past chats?
+1 for this it seems like a must. Sometimes, you’ve investigated a bug and you’ve managed to solve it along with AI. You have a written trace of how you solved this bug. You encounter it again two weeks later. You don’t remember how you solved it in that other case. You just remember a few words you discussed with the AI. That’s my use case that I can’t do right now and is greatly slowing me down.
Thanks in advance.
it would also be great to group chats in folders
Absolutely essential feature for me. Ability to search in all chats (not just titles).
When can I expect it to be implemented?
+1 is text search more difficult to implement than I think?
+1 I would like to search through the current chat and the ability to search through all chats. This feature has been extremely helpful in chatgpt. I waste time trying to export or read through past chats and waste tokens re-asking questions when I cant find it.
