Describe the request

Cursor is an amazing tool but sometimes it’s too helpful. I would like a big pause button that stops all ai suggestions until unpaused.

Don’t get me wrong I love AI suggestions and it’s made me a much faster coder but sometimes I want to type something out of order, or I just need a moment to think, or I want to craft something a particular way and cursor always stepping in to help in these situations is sooo annoying.

The product is great but being able to turn it off for short periods of time would be amazing.

Maybe it’s something you’ve already tried but I just press stop and tell it to continue.

When I’m ready to continue I just type “continue” and it picks up where it left off happily enough inside the given conversation

I am talking about autocomplete in the main editor not conversations in the side panel.

Just switch off the Tab in the Settings. Will it helps?

That is certainly an option. But I want a quick way not open settings find it turn it off the. Have to turn it back on. Most of the time I only want to pause it for like 30 seconds.

I think it would be easier for you to vibecode your own Cursor extension than to ask for such a niche button :slight_smile:

Maybe. I don’t think I am the only one that sometimes just wants AI to stop for a second. I will look into writing an extension though. It’s probably not that hard
