Add sound when a confirmation is needed

I noticed that there is no sound notification whenever a chat session is running, but awaits confirmation (ignored file edit or parallel editing warning).

Hey, thanks for the feature request. Actually, we received this request earlier, we’ll consider it.

The sound is helpful with longer running requests however I’m now find myself in situations when I wait for the sound just to find the agent looking for a confirmation on file delete action or (rarely) connection error.

Let’s have sounds anytime user’s attention is required.

We now have a sound for when a task is completed and that’s awesome, but it would be nice to also have a sound notificacion for when the cursor agent needs to ask permission to the user to do anything (like deleting a file).

I’m paying for MAX, I’m paying for extra tool calls, but sometimes Cursor waits for tool run confirmation even if I have that command in the allowed list… PLEASE add a sound whenever user’s input is required!

Yep, that would help for Agent runs

Can’t Cursor team just type in their slack: @cursor get it done!?

Could you add a sound effect function for completing code writing in Cursor? Since sometimes it takes a long time for Cursor to write code, the sound can remind me to check the code written by Cursor at the first time and carry out further operations.

I often find myself waiting for Cursor to respond, only to later realize it’s waiting for my confirmation on a step like “Run” or “Accept” — but there’s no audio or strong visual indicator that it’s paused.

This small UX tweak could save time and improve the overall flow, especially during deep work or multitasking sessions.

Suggestion:

  • Play a short sound whenever Cursor is waiting for the user to take action (configurable in settings).
  • Optionally add a subtle visual indicator (e.g., flashing sidebar, glowing button, etc.).

This would really enhance the experience for:

  • Power users who automate frequently
  • Users with accessibility needs
  • Anyone who works in distraction-prone environments

Would love to see this in an upcoming version — thanks for considering! :raising_hands:

Highly needed, this is a very big pain point, i sometimes waist valuable time since im tabbed out.

System notifications could be a general solve here. Any time the agent needs user input or is finished and cursor isn’t focused a notification could be delivered.

Why is it important?

  • An audible alert immediately draws the user’s attention, reducing response time for intervention.
  • It prevents reaching the timeout and losing all ongoing work due to a simple authorization.
  • Differentiating the intervention sound from the completion sound avoids confusion and allows the user to quickly identify the type of required action.
  • It facilitates use for people who are not constantly looking at the screen.
  • It improves accessibility for users with visual impairments.
  • It reduces the risk of errors or delays in critical processes that depend on human action.
  • It can increase efficiency and productivity in multitasking environments.
