Adding usage warnings during the billing cycle and be more more helpful in flagging if you're using API vs on-demand models

Feature request for product/service

Billing

Describe the request

I’d love if Cursor could add usage warnings during the billing cycle like Claude does and be a bit more helpful in flagging if you’re using API vs on-demand models so we don’t unknowingly blow through usage limits and can properly manage it

Operating System (if it applies)

MacOS

Hey, thanks for the feature request. Totally reasonable.

A couple things that can help right now, while we don’t have full proactive notifications for the Individual plan yet:

  • The in-IDE Usage Summary bar shows the percent of your included usage you’ve used. It’s set to Auto by default. You can switch it to Always via cursor.composer.usageSummaryDisplay so it’s always visible.
  • You can see the included vs on-demand breakdown and your current on-demand spend in Settings > Plan & Usage, and also in the usage bar popover.

On the request itself, we don’t currently have mid-cycle warnings like “you’ve used X%” for Pro Individual, or a clear included vs on-demand indicator directly in the model picker. I won’t promise an ETA, but the request is clear and useful.

If you notice specific spots where a model’s billing mode is especially unclear, drop them here. That’ll help with details.
