Please Show Exactly When Model Usage Resets / When We Can Resume Work

I want to request a much clearer usage and rate-limit system in Cursor.

The biggest problem is not necessarily the amount of usage included in the plan. The problem is not knowing exactly when a model will become available again or how long we have to wait before we can continue working.

For example, when I am using a model such as Claude and reach a usage/rate limit, Cursor should clearly tell me:

  • How much usage I have consumed.
  • How much usage remains.
  • Whether I have reached a monthly usage limit or a temporary rate limit.
  • Exactly how long I need to wait before I can use the model again, if it is a temporary restriction.
  • The exact date and time when my monthly usage resets.
  • Whether the model will automatically become available again after the reset.
  • Which models are currently available and which ones are temporarily unavailable.

Something as simple as:

Claude Sonnet
Usage: 92%
Remaining: $1.60
Status: Limited
Available again: 2 hours 18 minutes

or:

Monthly reset: September 15, 2026 — 4:00 PM

would make a huge difference.

Right now, users can end up wasting a lot of time trying different models, waiting, checking again, and wondering whether the problem is temporary or whether they have reached their monthly allowance.

I understand that AI models have real API costs and that usage limits are necessary. I am not asking Cursor to provide unlimited expensive model usage.

I am asking for transparency and respect for the user’s time.

If Cursor clearly showed exactly how much usage is left and exactly when we can resume using a restricted model, users could plan their work properly instead of sitting around waiting and guessing.

Cursor is a powerful tool, and better usage transparency would make the paid experience feel much more professional.

Please consider adding a real-time “Available Again” countdown / reset time directly inside the model picker and usage dashboard.

So my problem is i don’t know weather my monthly limit is completed or i have some left actually i am not a develpor but i used it as a testing if it help me in making tools for my work so 20$$ Subscription won’t last max 1-2 weeks what a joke it is as a student anyways fix these issues respect our time i hope this feature helps everyone. I am waiting For this feature.

Good news on the reset timing: the Usage page at cursor.com/dashboard shows how much of your included usage you have used, how much is left, and when it resets. It shows days left, and switches to an hours and minutes countdown in the final 24 hours of your cycle.

Temporary capacity messages (the “high demand, try again in a few moments” one) are separate from your monthly limit. Those usually clear within minutes and aren’t tied to your reset date, so switching models or retrying shortly is the right move. We do not currently show a countdown for those.
