I’m on Linux. The major longstanding issues have been fixed (kudos!). However, as of a few versions ago, I get occasional non-responsiveness from the agent after writing. The 3 dots will animate as if stuff is happening, but nothing happens. I wait and wait. I press the stop button and send the message again. Sometimes I can make it work again by cloning the chat, but often it doesn’t work.
Steps to Reproduce
It’s seemingly random, so it’s hard to reproduce. But after a few interactions, the agent just won’t do anything.

hi @yotambarnoy and thank you for the bug report. For cases where agent does not respond could you share following info so we can see clearer what the cause could be:
Check Settings > Network > Run Diagnostic and report any errors shown there.
Errors from Help > Toggle Developer Tools > Console
Similar issue here. Since around 1.7.37 (currently on 1.7.39) when I use grok-code-fast-1 I get just “…” and it is stuck forever. Stop/start the chat does not help. I restart Cursor and then run the same chat again, then it asks me to log in for suspicious activity, I log in and start the LLM request again and it works. Happens 5-10 times a day, usually when I pause my work for a while.
I’m on Debian 12, KDE, Cursor appimage 1.7.39, dual monitor with 2 Cursor windows: 1 for each of my projects/workspaces. Latest problematic request ID: 1b1f7ddc-cce7-4de0-8862-0da0785bfd7f
2 issues
Instead of “…” - the Log In pop-up window should show - and it doesn’t. It does only after a restart of Cursor.
I don’t do any suspicious activity to be asked many times per day to login. That did not happen in previous (around 1.7.35) versions
I send a message in chat; and the only UI update is the three dots appear and pulsate.
After closing, re-opening, re-logging in - re-sending the same message; it has been working (UI updates to “thinking …” and the agent works throught the task)
Steps to Reproduce
Intermittent - but occurs relatively frequently (once every hour?) on both Agent and Plan modes

Fortuitously it happened right after posting; it just its without making progress.
It runs much faster (<5 seconds) vs 1min + after a restart; so it does not seem like its “thinking”
This is happening to me constantly on Mint. It’s something to do with session management. I login, then my first session works fine. But if I tab-over to some other historical session, and tab back to the session I was just in…. and send a new message, the agent gets stuck with the 3 bouncing dots forever. I have to kill Cursor every time this happens and restart it again, JUST SO I can have one run and then I get the same issue starting a new session… have to kill Cursor. Stuck in this loop now and very annoyed.
This only started happening for me after you implemented login checks.
