Does Agent use the selected model or is Agent using its own Cursor model?
If we change the model, does this affect the Agent in any way?
It uses whatever you selected. But only Sonnet and Haiku work in agent mode.

Can you clarify? Composer / Overview – Cursor indeed states Agent is only for Claude, but the fact is you can select every model and still run it in Agent mode (at least tried it with gpt-4o, o1-mini, o3-mini and Gemini and DeepSeek).
So did it change since your reply or is it a bug that lets you choose Agent and actually runs in Normal mode?

Composer Normal and Composer Agent modes are not the same. The Agent only supports Claude, 4o and o3-mini.
Well, why would they be the same? Of course they’re different. But both this thread and the official docs claim they support only Claude, while you claim they also support some OpenAI models (why not o1 and o1-mini then?).
Others claim they don’t support any OpenAI models.
Plus as mentioned you can choose Gemini, DeepSeek, etc. and agent will still run.
So which is it?
Forget the docs, nothing is up to date usually. Twitter and Forum are your best bet on users that try to figure sh*t out.
But even the forum has opposing claims…maybe this thread should be a sticky so people will write here the latest of agent mode.
But in any case, does it mean Gemini, DeekSeek, etc. do work with Agent, since Composer works like that without any complaints?
