AI Hallucinations and Code Apply Issues

Working with many files now is extremely bad:

  1. In case you capture the entire folder, AI starts hallucinating soon means he misplaces current version of a file with something (I assume previous version) what leads to useless suggestions as it often suggest to update your file exactly to the state it is
  2. In case you don’t mention a folder, AI does not capture the necessary context of a problem (which usually lies in a few files) and quickly starts (I assume down the thread length) capturing even less context either circling suggestions or suggesting nothing (like adding //tag as a solution).

Needless to say how much time and tokens I wasted to find this out.

I am sorry for the trouble @stonianua. A general rule, you may already know so forgive me if that’s true, is that the more specific you are with your prompt, and the more specific you are with the context you are selecting, the better results you are going to have. This will only get better in the future, but right now, we need to put some effort into helping the AI help us.

Another good practice is to not let conversations drag, as the AI will eventually start hallucinating.

Here’s a relevant recent thread that has some good insights.

I hope that helps.
