AI in IDE failing to do basic prompts

I used the free tier of the IDE until the trail ran out and was impressed with its results so paid for the pro version, since I’ve done that its become terrible.

I’ve changed the setting in the UI to enable the Models to check and looking at my online account page its says I have not used any premium models, however ignoring that it fails to do basic tasks, for the command:

create me a class that abstracts this class

it just returns nothing, this happens for most prompts, and even if I do get a results its usually not very good quality.

I’m feeling a bit frustrated by this, I paid for the Pro Version for it to be better, not worse.

Any help?

Hey, sorry your experience with Pro hasn’t been great so far, hopefully we can get you back up and running like you had during your free tier trial.

Where are you running that command that you’ve quoted?

If you are using the Composer, you have to provide it some context (using the @ shortcut) - it has no ability to find its own context.

In the chat window, that usually defaults to looking at the current file, and you can again use @ to include more files, folders or other context.

A screenshot of your query and the output (or lack of output) from the AI would be useful to see.

Having the exact same issue, the IDE has gotten dramatically worse since I paid for the pro version.

Ctrl + K will do nothing on the first prompt, I have to say something twice for it to write anything, and the autocomplete has just stopped working completely. It never suggests anything to complete by pressing tab, even if I wait for it to process.

Really feel like I was promised a better version in the free trial than they actually have, and then immediately downgraded as soon as I paid. My subscription is up tomorrow and I won’t be renewing, but if this can be fixed I’ll be buying it again for sure.

Hi @iarla-crewe

What models are you using? It’s strange because it works for me. Also, make sure the Cursor Tab is enabled on your side.

Hi,

Cursor Tab being disabled was definitely the issue with autocomplete anyway, thanks, is there a shortcut for disabling it because I never clicked on it myself?
I have claude sonnet (which is used in the chat), cursor small (with ctrl+k) gpt 4o / o1 are also enabled but I don’t think they’re used.

Thanks

There’s no keyboard shortcut for this, but you can set one if you need it.
