Annoying help animations

When I move my cursor over the top menu bar a pop up is seen and the text at the bottom of the animation is “Hit Ctrl+L to ask about a piece of code”.

Also, if I hover over “* Chat with your codebase” below the top menu bar the cursor changes to big question mark and a different animation with “Hit Ctrl+Enter in Chat to have the AI scan your codebase” at the bottom.

These are both very annoying, how can I turn them off!

Me too. Same issue.

Hello,

Could either of you post a screenshot of the undesired behaviour?

I am on Cursor version 0.40.3 and when I hover over those areas, i can’t see those things you are describing.

Also please post system info from:

Cursor > Help > About

So this morning the animations are gone, so I cannot provide a screen shot.

Here is the about:

Version: 0.40.3
VSCode Version: 1.91.1
Commit: 2804893a83ef162ae6c48e8254717e25c7c7c510
Date: 2024-08-29T17:42:50.254Z
Electron: 29.4.0
ElectronBuildId: undefined
Chromium: 122.0.6261.156
Node.js: 20.9.0
V8: 12.2.281.27-electron.0
OS: Linux x64 6.10.6-arch1-1

Also, I downloaded Cursor again and executed the new copy and it did not go through the initialization phase. Instead it started up in same directory as the previous instance, so it seems you need to do a “fresh” install to see the animations. If you tell me how to make it forget the previous install I’ll try again.

I am having the same issue. it is very annoying because it covers up the top level menu choices as well as the drop down menu and it happens everytime I mouse up to the menu bar.

Which version are you using?

version 0.40.4

I am also seeing this, it is indeed annoying. I am using Cursor version 0.41.3. Hoping this will get fixed soon.

Close the welcome block, and that should fix the problem.
