AppImage issues on Ubuntu

I’m using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (still supported by Canonical!) which runs the latest version of stock VSCode without issues.

When I run Cursor, I get a few issues:

  1. Terminal doesn’t work. There’s a message about restarting the pty host that keeps appearing, but restarting it doesn’t seem to help. The terminal is blank doesn’t accept any input.
  2. The app doesn’t seem to save any state – each time I run the AppImage, I’m greeted with the setup process – use extensions, log in, etc.

I get that an AppImage is easier to make than deb/rpm etc but I can’t even get to the point of trying the AI features with the AppImage as is.
