I’ve seen several comments on this, and often the resolution is to bind two different shortcuts to handle enable/disabling cursor tab. My and it seems some others’ preferred way of interfacing with the AI is hitting “⌥ + /” to trigger a single suggestion—I really don’t like constant AI generations as I’m typing, causing me to hit escape a bunch. It’s very distracting.
This trigger works great in Copilot but there’s no option in with Cursor Tab so I have two separate subscriptions just to get this feature to work. The feature exists on Windsurf right now too unfortunately it’s broken otherwise I’d be over there.
I confirm that this hotkey doesn’t work for me too and it would be extremely cool to have it since sometimes I’m in need to trigger suggestion manually.
With Copilot, I can have it disabled and still call editor.action.inlineSuggest.trigger even from a VSCodeVim motion and have it make suggestions only ondemand. Otherwise, it’s too distracting.
OMG, this is driving me absolutely crazy! I can’t see what I’m typing, let alone think! I’ve asked the AI to configure this feature for me several times, it was claiming it did, but this still continues to bug me. The only way to disable it is to disable it completely. We need a hotkey for this!
