I’m using Cursor on Mac and noticed this bug: if I try to make a commit with a blank commit message, the system gets stucked loading. Commit inputs gets disabled, there is no cancel button, the only way to solve this is restarting Cursor.
Usually an editor would show asking you to type in a commit message, is this not happening for you?
Yes, it’s happening. The editor prompts me to type in a commit message, but accepts blank entries, which breaks the process. This seems to be a consistent issue on my end. Could you provide any guidance on how to resolve this?
Thank you.
Are you able to enter a commit message, just to keep things from freezing in the meantime?
I’ve added the issue to an internal log to be looked into and (hopefully) fixed in a future update!
If I enter a commit message at first, it all goes well. However, if I accidentally hit enter or click the commit button with a blank message, the commit system freezes in an eternal loading state. The only way to resolve this is by restarting Cursor. Thank you for logging this issue internally.
Best,
Felipe
Ah, that makes sense! Thanks again for the report.
+1 on fixing this. This was a bug that rolled over from VS Code (which they fixed last year).
