Hey, thanks for the report. A few notes based on your screenshots and description:
Your Cursor version is out of date. You are on 2.6.22, build from March 27, 2026, and the current stable version is a few releases ahead. There have been many display and performance fixes since then. Please update first: Help → Check for Updates, or download the latest version from cursor.com/download, then restart and check if the issue still happens.
About the display bug in the screenshot. I can see the Stop button is still active in your screenshot, which means the agent was still generating when you took it. The empty space below the partial text most likely means the answer was still streaming, not a rendering problem. If the text is still missing or cut off after generation finishes, then it is a real display issue, and we will need a new screenshot or recording that shows that final state.
About slowness and the concern that you might have been hacked. Slow Composer 2 turns and short freezes are a known performance issue we are tracking. They are not a sign of a security compromise. On our side, your account activity looks normal.
If the display issue still happens after updating, please send:
The Request ID from the affected turn right top corner of the chat > Copy Request ID
A short screen recording showing the agent finishes generating but the text still does not appear
This error happens when the Update Service can’t find its temp folder. Another process might have cleared it, or your antivirus removed it during install. The easiest fix is to reinstall over the top. It won’t affect your settings or history.
Fully close Cursor. Open Task Manager and end any remaining Cursor.exe processes if you see them.
Run the installer. If your antivirus warns you, allow the install, or temporarily disable it during the install.
Restart Cursor and check the version in Help → About.
If the error comes back on the next auto update, it’s usually your antivirus deleting %TEMP%\vscode-stable-system-x64-* during the update. Adding exclusions for %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\cursor and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Temp fixes it in most cases.
Nice, you’re now on 3.4.20, the latest stable. Since 2.6.22 there have been a lot of performance and display fixes, so the original symptoms should improve.
Could you use it normally for a bit and let me know:
Does the display issue, text not appearing in chat, still happen after a turn fully finishes?
Are Composer 2 turns still freezing or noticeably slow?
If yes to either, please grab a Request ID from a problematic turn top right of the chat > Copy Request ID and drop it here. With that, we can trace the specific turn on our side.
