Bug: User Rules are not Machine Specific

Hello Cursor Team,

I’m here to report this issue which I’m facing after Cursor version 1.0.0 shipped. The issue is User Rules are not machine specific instead they are synced, which is really annoying. I have 3 machines and have different User Rules for the specific use cases. In the earlier versions User Rules were not synced which is quite perfect. Now, I’m unable to find any workaround to fix this issue. User Rules are synced and when I delete them then it gets deleted from all machines. Please Help @deanrie @ericzakariasson !

Hi there, yes the user rules are synchronized in latest versions.

Thank you for the feedback, the Cursor Team is aware of this and has received feature requests for not synching.

For now you can use .cursorrules for project specific always on rules.
