Business plan user rotation limit

I am planning to buy Cursor business monthly plan for my team but I have few queries

  1. If I want to change users using cursor, every month 2-3 times, is that allowed? Any limit on changing users? I expect this as we have different types of projects/tasks and so team changes.
  2. Can I check every user usage data daily?
  3. How do I get notification if any user fast quota is exceeded/close to 500?

Hi @Sn_D, thanks for your interest in purchasing Cursor business for your team!

To answer your questions individually:

  1. There is no limit to adding or removing users to your account, and your payments would be pro-rated, so you only ever pay for what you use. When you first sign up, you have 7 days to add any users you want to your team. After that time, you will then be charged for how every many users are in your team at that point.

We have a system in place to ensure your team billing date is always the same day each month, so if you add a new user, you would receive a separate, one off invoice for that user, with the amount being pro-rated for how many days are left before your next team-wide renewal. Then, your monthly renewal would increase to add that new user from that point onward.

Removing a user is similar, in that if you take a user off halfway through your billing month, your account is credited for the cost of that user that you have already paid, which is then taken off your next bill.

You can do this as many times as you want, and our payment system should keep up!

  1. Yes, usage is not instant, but should update fast enough that you will see the usage change if you check in daily!

  2. You are unfortunately not notified if a user is near or at their usage limits, but the user will not be able to do any fast requests once they have exceeded their limit. You are able to check in the dashboard what their usage is, to keep track of this manually yourself!

I want to do the paiment for a number of users and then remove the card information, so we pay for just one year. how can I do it ?

So to do this, you would:

  • Setup a yearly business plan
  • Add all the users you want into the plan
  • Wait for Cursor to invoice those new users
  • Then you can remove the card

I would say however that we don’t recommend this, as if you remove and add people midway through the plan, and we fail to charge your card, your team may be disabled.

I prefer that Cursor prevent us from adding new users just by simple invitation (allowed for any team member !!) … we can not govern and manage our subscription this way

btw, I removed our card after paiment and after some days all the team accounts have been desactivated even if we paid for an annual subscription.
Can you help us activate theme it hase been blocking us for sevral days !

Hey, are you still having issues with this?

We don’t recommend removing your card as you may incur small charges if you remove and add new team members during your plan!

We do not expect charges to be deducted directly after adding new members, so we plan to remove our card.

Could you explain the reason why removing and then re-adding members will incur additional costs? Also, what does “team may be disabled” mean? Could it possibly affect the usage of existing members?

Let me break this down:

Billing for member changes works on a prorated system (Cursor – Members + Roles):

  • When you add members mid-cycle, you’re charged for their remaining time
  • When removing members, you get credit for unused time on next invoice
  • The monthly/yearly renewal stays on your original signup date

Removing your card isn’t recommended because:

  1. These prorated charges need to process when member changes happen
  2. Without a payment method, the system can’t handle these adjustments

When we say “team may be disabled” - this means if we can’t process required payments, your team’s access to Cursor features could be temporarily suspended, even for existing members. This is to ensure fair usage and proper billing management

I get wanting to avoid unexpected charges, but keeping a card on file ensures smooth team management and continuous access for everyone
