Can someone fix the new version downloads situation?

Various folks, myself included, are stuck on 0.47

Clicking Check For Updates accomplishes nothing.

The official download page Downloads | Cursor - The AI Code Editor makes no mention of 0.48 as of right now.

I hear rumors on social media of people using 0.48.5

There are weird links popping up in the forum claiming to carry recent, up-to-date installers, but there is no way to tell whether they actually have what the label says.

I understand y’all are busy and whatnot, but this starts to look like everyone went on vacation.

Hey, you need to enable early access in the Cursor settings if you want to get this version right now.

Hi, you can check in the Docs the Early Access Program if you would prever to upgrade before it is released on the stable channel.

Best to trust links provided by Cursor.

Vacation: nice

(not a Cursor dev, but i do see them replying to many threads in the forum)

Well posted a second after Dean

@deanrie How can a user distinguish between stable and non-stable versions?

I understand that’s very clear to you. But I am asking from the p.o.v. of a user. I’m sitting here, reading rumors about 0.48.x installers out there, and there is literally nothing that indicates to me these do not belong to the stable channel.

Most software projects have a versioning scheme that distinguishes between stable and non-stable versions.

Not having all this figured out leads to shady download sites popping up, which is exactly what’s happening now. Also leads to users wasting their time on this issue.

Stable versions are available on our website. You can get unstable versions by following the method I mentioned in the post above. As I already replied in another thread, we don’t recommend downloading Cursor from anywhere other than our website.

Just by looking at the version numbers, how do I distinguish between these two scenarios:

  • those are non-stable versions and I should just chill
  • the update process is fubar’d (again)
